Jangamhatti Dam

Location :- Located at 25 Km to the west of Belgavi City of Karnataka State. On the route of Belgavi-Chandgad road.

Jangamhatti dam is Medium project which benefits to southern part of Chandgad Taluka. This is earthen dam constructed in 2009.  Jangamhatti Dam is situated at 698.50 Meter above MSL having water storage capacity 1.23 TMC. In entire surrounding and ambience enjoys rich flora and fauna nearly green throughout the year. Around the dam and location within reach of  20-25 km other tourist location like Tilarinagar hill station.

As situated near the Belgavi city many tourists visit this dam for recreation. Tourist make their own food in gavran style in surrounding of backwater. Tourist can also visit Kitwad Minor Tank, Kalasgade Minor Tank located nearby.

 

In the vicinity, Samangad is hill fort situated 2600 feet (790.0 Mtr above sea level). In 1676 the fortification were Considerably improved by Shivaji  Maharaja subsequent to which it was known as one of the “Smallest yet strongest forts of the Marathas” The fort is surrounded by trees and developed by Govt. Of Maharashtra tourist place. Also Maruti Temple and Chaloba Temple near fort is visited by devotees.Also Kalanidhigad is located 10 Km away west to the Jangamhatti dam. It is one of the forts of Marathas Empire.

Pargad fort is situated to the south of Kolhapur and 28 km distance away from the Chandgad. One of the major attractions of this fort is its serene environment and lush green surroundings. Apart from this there is wonderful Bronze Statue of Shivaji Maharaja and a Temple of Bhagavati Bhavani. This fort was maintained by Rayaba, Son of Tanaji Malusare.
